When Buildings go bad

So, that early morning class I mentioned yesterday, the one I had to be up early for, well... I slept right through it. Woke up at 9:30 and almost had a heartattack. Apparently I didn't miss too much, which is good, but I've been feeling pretty crappy all day. Sick and angry and very short tempered; be glad I was not around today.
Which would probably explain todays picture. The line up (left to right) is Dominic 'Greaser' Burg, Len McCormak (hanging out of the pannel) and Damien Sheldon. These are three of my characters from a sci-fi story I'm in the midst of writing.
Normally Damien and Greaser are best friends, but today, I haven't been feeling very friendly and thats why there's been some sort of a fight. Greaser beat up Len and now Damien's pushing Greaser back.
... Feel the love

So I kind of like the way this turned out. The scan is much, much larger than this, and I'm really considering inking and/or colouring this properly. We'll see how I feel. Don't really want to put to much on my plate at the moment, I've been feeling really overwhelmed with a lot of stuff the last few days. I really like the way Greaser and Len are hanging out of the frame.
I hate the dark green in the background (but I was trying to make it look more intresting).
Damien looks pretty cool in the original sketch; don't know how well that came across in this.
I think I may be getting a flu or something (a pretty nasty one's been going around) which would probably explain my crappy mood and my sleep in this morning.
We'll, I'm going to watch the last few minutes of 24.
Be good,

There's a 6:30 in the morning now?

I was so busy reading comics I forgot to draw anything for the blog today. This is a six minute sketch and ink. I think its Franklin and Rachel Grey playing with Lockjaw the Inhuman's mutated dog.

Okay, early morning. Going to go sleep.
Later.

Ring goes the bell

This is a five minute sketch and ink. I've been up since 6:30 this morning and I still didn't have time to do everything that had to be done. The picture is the first thing to get neglected.

Didn't want to draw today. Couldn't get motivated.
Early school tomorrow (6:30 am wake up) and worked today. Hate my work.

How I loathe thee...

So todays image is pretty crappy. Nath looks shoking in the first panel and the second, and Emily looks crappy in the second.
The only other comment I have on this is that I HATE Greg Land, that man is pretty close to pure Evil. There's a group of misogynists getting together in a group somewhere with blue hoods on their heads worshiping that man and the sterotypes he propegates about women and their role in society.
Comics may same innocent to you, but I'm here to tell you the TRUTH.

And thats about all I have to say, I'm really tired and well aware that todays blog will be filled with more grammatical/spelling errors than normal because I'm typing on auto pilot.
My family dragged me out to the Canberra Show today and I've spent most of the day walking around looking at produce and animals (went on the worlds scariest ride today, almost had a heart attack) and now I smell like sheep. But sheep are kind of cool.
I think I'm the only person in the place who brought the Fantastic 4 showbag, the girl looked confused when I asked for it; that could just be because of my age though.
It has an inflatable Thing bat (as I was blowing it up, I hit my mum with it and yelled 'It's Clobberin' Time' - coincidently, thats written on the bat), a blow up Von Doom punching bag, a basketball, some tatoos, a beanie, a yo-yo and a backpack. Not bad for $10, I wanted the mega-man one as well halfprice but mum just looked at me.
My geek levels rose to high.
Wow, this is going to make it up just before twelve, thats awesome. And so am I.

Soundtrack of my life

So todays image is pretty crappy, forgive me. It looked better before it scanned. This is a preliminary design for something else I'm working on at the moment. I might have more time for it next week. But I've got a bit of reading to do tomorrow and sunday; I actually have a project due on monday. So I won't have a lot of time to draw, but I'll try.

I found this meme on the internet today at http://www.leftybrown.com/2007/02/20/meme_monday_posing_as_a_tuesday/ and thought it was pretty funny so I thought I’d have a crack at it. It turned out pretty awesome.
The idea was to create the soundtrack of your life by shuffling randomly through your music list on your computer and your mp3 player. I’ll admit, this isn’t entirely honest because I had to skip over all the podcasts that came up on the complete list. But I was honest to the spirit.

Opening credits: “One of us” (Return to Pride rock soundtrack)
Waking up: “Brave New World” (War of the Worlds)
First day of school: “Hammer to Fall” (Queen)
Falling in love: “Now I’m Here” (Queen)
First song: “The Spirit of Man” (War of the Worlds)
Breaking up: “Epilogue Part 1” (War of the Worlds... gosh, shuffle’s crappy)
Prom: “Coming to the rescue” (O-Town)
Life: “Love of the common people” (Paul Young... that’s kind of cool)
Mental Breakdown: “Love will find a way” (Return to Pride rock soundtrack)
Driving: “Prince Ali” (Aladdin soundtrack)
Flashback: “America” (Simon and Garfunkle)
Getting back together: “Can you feel the love tonight” (Lion King soundtrack)
Wedding: “Into the fire” (Scarlet Pimpernel soundtrack... yeah, this will probably describe every relationship I’ll ever have)
Birth of Child: “With a little help from my friends” (Joe Cocker)
Final Battle: “Iron-Man animated theme ‘96” (that’s so cool I can’t even describe it)
Death Scene: “Scarborough Fair/Canticle” (Simon and Garfunkle)
Funeral song: “Amish Paradise” (Weird Al)
End Credits: “Everything Changes” (Original Pokemon Album... kind of apt if you’ve heard the lyrics)
That is all

Brain go boom

Meet Assassin-E (AE). She's the best assassin in the world, so you'd better not mess with her.
She's out to prove that a single chromosone doesn't make you any better or worse and she's also out to just take a lot of names and kick a lot of butts.
And yeah, she's trying to Garrot SN in the second panel, but hey, what are friends for if not practicing the deadly oriental arts?

Okay, that be all for tonight. Been up since 7, I'd forgotten that 7 AM even existed these days. Thought they'd gotten rid of it or something.
My mind is so turned off and shut down right now that I'm going to crawl under the covers and die. So if something is spelled wrong or doesn't make sense, blame sleepiness and not me... for a chance.

Night. Enjoy. Whatever.

Crazy is a relative term

So the last few days have been all kinds of exhausting and now I find myself sitting here watching OC as they have an earthquake. I don't even watch OC.
BUT OMG THINGS JUST FELL EVERYWHERE AND I BET THERE WERE DEATHS. yayz.

In other news, I have no other news.
Still suck at drawing girls (and in general). Did a few sketches while I was away, but didn't really have time for much.
Returned to uni today, spent most of the day catching up with old friends; most of them from high school who have finally decided to continue their education after spending a few years in the 'real world'.
Going to sleep soon, got an early class tomorrow morning and I have to try and read some of this 'Architecture History' stuff which looks interesting, but I'm not really in the mood.
Enjoy yourselves, we're back to updates as usual from here on in.

A few of my favourite things

I have a tendency to name these posts after anything but their content. And thats what makes it fun.
Today is Nath from NQC holding his kitten - its a warm up sketch because I'm planning on do a few comics tonight. Showed them to Chris today, he thought they were pretty funny; new people always make me want to do more.

It is highly unlikey that you'll get any new sketches until next tuesday. I'm going to melbourne with the family for a wedding and to hang around for a week. Not really my idea of fun, but it shouldn't be awful. I'll take my laptop and I might have a net connection at the hotel thursday and friday night - so you might get something drawn straight into flash. But don't hold your breath.
The house where we're staying the other few nights won't have it.
Then Tuesday its back to uni, which is going to be awful. I have $200 dollars worth of text books (for TWO books) and only $150 put aside. But I'm sort of looking forward to 'Introduction to Architecture History' which is totally from left field considering my current degree (creative writing, media and literature).
There'll probably be a picture tomorrow.
I think thats all I've got to say,

Squeeeeeeeeeee its supernatural

So I wanted to have a go at drawing straight on to the computer with a mouse, SN lends himself to that.

Can't really talk, Supernatural is on and that show is everything I love.

I drive a hearse and listen to death metal

So no art the last two days, sorry about that. Been busy.

I put this together really quickly and I'm tired now. The original sketch had the keyblade pointing the wrong way, so I tried to fix it.

o.O

I've got to do something tomorrow that I don't want to do. But I've been emotionally blackmailed into by somebody. I hate that.
There won't be an update tomorrow unless something magical happens. With my run of luck - don't hold your breath for that.

You Cannot Hold Me

Nobody should be bound. Especially not cute SN :(

Kind of annoyed by a few things today, but still enjoyed Epic Movie. Fell flat in a few place, but was mostly good.

The Power is YOURS

Okay, so I warned you this would be later. We left home just after eight and got home around 00:30 - after a roughly ten hour trip. But I got to spend the day with my mum and dad, moaning and whinning and generally being treated like a spoiled little kid and talking about stupid stuff.

So once again, you get treated to a bit of Powerpack fanart.
Yesterday I went on about Gurihiru's art work and how much I love it but I don't think I got to truly espouse the awesomness of I think it's Mark Sumerak writing style.
I first came across powerpack when looking into the back history of Franklin Richards (as mentioned yesterday). And I picked up, without hesitation, Sumerak's 'Franklin Richards - Son of a Genius' one shots.
They're a lot of fun (if you live in Canberra and haven't read them, you can borrow mine if you promise to give them back) and thats what Sumerak does well, fun. He rights fun comic books, and I know they're called 'all age comic books' and thats probably enough to turn you off them (it's enough to make me too embaressed to buy some comics at times), but there's nothing wrong with a bit of lighthearted fun. Powepack and Franklin: SOG is good for that.
I loved in one of the SOG's (I think it was the summer special?) Franklin was all panicky because a class mate was coming over for a project and he wasn't happy. It turned out it was a little girl called Katie with blonde piggy-tails. It was never said that she was powerpack Katie but it was obvious she was, and it was a nice little nod at comic cannon.
I think they're a super-cute couple from what I've read (all though I love the AOA? Franklin and Rachel coupling so much I think I might burst)
Anyway, I'm tired and I'm rambling, so I'll end now.

There was something important I wanted to say, but it can wait until later today.
On a random note, we went to a tavern for lunch today (had a hamburger that wasn't really a hamburger but some exotic sandwich with a meatpattie on it). It had an outdoor family section with this really awesome play equipment, but set up in all these little cranny's about the place were playstation2's and gamecubes. I had a geekgasim on the spot. Seriously, if I had kids, I'd take them there so they could keem me amused for a few house. The few games I saw were 'Pokemon Colosseum', 'Harry Potter, Goblet of fire' 'Generic Football Game #36' :D, "Jack and Dax' and a few other cool titles that have fled my mind in this sleep needing state.
Then we went to the Harvey Norman for a half hour or so while waiting for my Dad and we found Guitar Hero 2 set up, so I rocked out to a few sets (on medium - I'm still learning the way of the frets) and then my mum rocked out to a few songs on easy. She really enjoys Guitar Hero which is nice to see, she hasn't really enjoyed a game since 'Robotnicks Mean Bean Machine'
Yeah, thats me, that's Nat, geeking it up around Australia.
Signing off until next time,

Preschool power

Sorry about the lack of a post yesterday, I just couldn't find time to get one up. Miserable morning, followed by a few hours at work, followed by coming home to find a few unexpected friends had dropped by for drinks. We didn't finish until 1:30 or so in the morning, when Ashura and Chrissy went home, Emily slept on the couch. So, as you can tell, there was no time for me to get anything up before the deadline.

I'll probably be going for a car ride tomorrow though, which means you may get more than one sketch tomorrow night. Hopefully I'll get home in time to put whatever I have up, but if I don't, since its a bit of a long drive, then it might be up after midnight.

Today's offering is a real fast sketch of Katie Power (Energizer) from powerpack. I did have her brother jack flying behind her in the original sketch, but I drew his head much to large and it looked stupid. Quick ink and then basic yellow layed in photoshop after the scan. I really love Powerpack - it came to my knowledge a few years ago when reading about Franklin Richards and as anyone who's ever suffered through a rant of mine about comics can tell you, I love Franklin Richards and Nate Grey more than anything (it probably has something to do with the couples who had the kids, considering Reed/Sue, Scott/Jean are my comic super-couples).
Anyway. I really respect and love Gurihiru's art (check it out at his blog here http://gurihiru21.blog11.fc2.com/) and would have to say he is one of the FEW artists working in comics to day who seems to know what kids look like at particular ages. I was disgusted by how old most people draw Frank and Val - and how most artists cant draw kids or teenagers at all.
So yeah, you should check out Gurihiru's art, and pick up 'Spider-Man and Power Pack' and any other Power Pack titles done within the last few years. They've come a long way since the originals in the 70's or 80's. And the guy who writes them is the same dude who writes 'Franklin Richards - Son Of A Genius' - if thats not reason enough for you, then you're crazy and I want nothing more to do with you.

(Oh yeah - there's a very good chance this is going to turn in to my soap box for comic stuff - so, you've been warned)

PPS. My sister is playing the original sims games in the next room with the sound up. I'm proud of her for installing them herself, but if I keep hearing the buy-catalogue music, I will go mad and stab somebody in the eye.

Cheers

When the going gets tough; run like hell

This actually looks really good in real life, seriously. First picture in a month or more that I've actually been proud of (Except for Kon's face and expression which look weird in all worlds). But for some reason my scanner mangled the colours and wouldn't scan in the light reds and blues. I tried a few different things, but it refused to co-operate, so I gave up and you get this. Shitty, but deal with it, and just keep in mind it DOES look good.

If I thought yesterday was bad, I wasn't prepared for today. And I work tomorrow. But only for three hours, so I'll probably survive. Somehow I wish I wouldn't.

SPACE DRAGON *in best Strong Bad voice*

Oh Dragon's and Sci-fi, how much I love thee...

Technically this image violates part of the terms of the 'daily' sketch challenge that this blog has set. I drew it last night, sometime after midnight I think. The dragon was drawn today though. And the picture was inked in photoshop today.
Just noticed that I missed a patch of white between the hanging harness and the guys leg. Oh well. And yes, I am aware that there is something wrong with the guys arm, but I don't care.
If I have time, I'll try to upload something after I've coloured (or given up for the day) on this. Maybe a quickie of Spike from 'I Luv Haloween'. Wanted to draw him for a few days now.
On a random note, I can only marvel at how much the simple backgrounds I've added the last few days have changed the look of the art. The basic bg's, really give it a much more professional, finished feel. At least to my way of thinking. I wonder what other people think?
